Social Rights Alliance North East - Using Human Rights for Local Change
Published 30/08/2019
Just Fair is organising an event on Wednesday, 18 September in Northumberland where they will be discussing and planning how they could advance social rights across the North East.
Access to housing, education, social security, health and food are globally recognised as human rights. The UK has ratified several international treaties that say so. Despite this, poverty and destitution are on the rise, wages stagnate and housing situations worsen.
The event will focus on:
- Listening to the experiences of those working on the ground and exploring the issues around economic and social rights in the North East. Sam Gilchrist at West Northumberland Foodbank will also be discussing how they aim to deliver a hollistic service to those accessing the food bank.
- Creating ideas and plans for how to move forward and instigate the change we want to see together.
- Networking to make new connections and gain inspiration from fantastic work happening across the region.
Attendance is free of charge - click here to register!
